Maya, the#1 Digital Banking App in the Philippines, is collaborating with Scam Watch Pilipinas and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) for the #HolidayWatchPH campaign. This public service initiative raises awareness about online scams, especially during the Christmas season.

As a brand convenor of the #HolidayWatchPH campaign, Maya aims to educate its users about cyber fraud prevention and encourage reporting any cyber fraud incidents to the Inter-Agency Response Center (I-ARC) Hotline 1326.

Nick Bautista Wilwayco, Head of Public Affairs and Communications at Maya, said, “Initiatives like Scam Watch Pilipinas help provide our customers with the necessary information and mindset to prevent cyber fraud. It’s good to know that we have a hotline like the 1326 where we can ask our customers to report cyber fraud.”

Jocel de Guzman, co-founder and co-lead convenor of Scam Watch Pilipinas, shared that the movement is actively engaging with brands like Maya to extend the outreach of their educational campaigns.

“The objective of Scam Watch Pilipinas is to bridge the knowledge gap in online behavior, emphasizing the importance of reporting online scams to 1326. We aim to instill this practice among Maya’s customers and those of our other brand partners,” he said.

Scam Watch Pilipinas and the CICC released a list of the most common online scams being perpetuated by cyber criminals every Christmas season called 12 Scams of Christmas as the key highlight of #HolidayWatchPH.

The 12 Scams of Christmas are fake shipping and delivery notifications, fake online charity scams, fake shopping websites, fake online sellers, free trial scams, fake Christmas gift card scams, tech support scams, crypto investment scams, fake relative/friend scams, dating scams, foreign exchange investment scams, and loan scams.
